The Indonesian Economists Association (ISEI) through the Academic and Research Division officially launched the ISEI Lead Indicator for the first semester of 2025 entitled "A Good Kitchen for Quality Food," this report reflects Indonesia's efforts in preparing a solid and sustainable foundation to lead the national economy towards a more advanced and quality direction. The launch event held today at the ISEI Secretariat is an important momentum for policy makers, academics, market players, and the wider community in understanding the current conditions and projections of the Indonesian economy.
The ISEI Lead Indicator for Semester 1 of 2025 presents a comprehensive analysis of the national economic conditions with a focus on strategic sectors in the Fast Best Results Program (PHTC) which are the main drivers of growth, namely technology, health, education, and digital inclusion.
One of the main catalysts in this report is the Fast Best Results Program (PHTC), a flagship government policy led directly by President Prabowo Subianto. This program targets the acceleration of real results, especially in the health sector through eight priority programs. Among them are the implementation of free comprehensive health checks, as well as a campaign to reduce tuberculosis (TB) cases by 50% in five years, an ambitious target but supported by a large and focused health budget allocation.
In the field of education, the Government has emphasized its commitment to building international standard schools in 39 strategic locations throughout Indonesia. This effort is an integral part of PHTC and aims to produce superior human resources with high competitiveness, as the main foundation for the future of the nation. Education is considered the key to facing dynamic changes in the world of work and increasing national innovation capacity.
The report also examines the development of the health budget which began with a significant increase to IDR 218.5 trillion, which was then adjusted to IDR 198.87 trillion to ensure the efficiency and sustainability of the use of public funds. This shows the government's efforts to maintain a balance between improving health services and prudent fiscal management.
From a macroeconomic perspective, the Stability Index created by ISEI shows positive signals that reflect Indonesia's stable and strong economic conditions in 2025, supported by various government subsidies, especially in the non-energy sector which is important for people's purchasing power. However, this report also highlights several serious challenges, including the management of long-term debt burden risks that must be carried out carefully so as not to disrupt fiscal stability, as well as adjustments to social assistance standards so that they can be more targeted, APBN efficiency policies that do not pay attention to time lag and encourage the effectiveness of performance-based welfare programs (performance-based incentives). The ISEI Lead Indicator is not only a measuring and predictive tool, but also a relevant strategic guide to formulating adaptive and resilient public policies and economic steps. This report is presented as a compass from ISEI for the Government to present a scientific development approach.
